Soria-D 0.05%+0.005% Ointment 20g

✔️ Topical Ointment: Betamethasone + Calcipotriol

• This ointment is for external use only. The phototoxic effects in psoriasis patients have not been studied, so treated areas should be shielded from direct sunlight and UV light using appropriate clothing.
• Adults: Apply a thin layer to the affected areas once daily. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 15 grams, with a maximum weekly dose of 100 grams. The treated skin area should not exceed 30% of the body surface. The ointment should be used intermittently for up to one year under close medical supervision. Treatment should be limited to four-week periods, with a one-month break using Calcipotriol alone between treatment cycles.
• Children: Not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age.

✔️ Contraindications

This formulation, which contains Betamethasone and Calcipotriol, is contraindicated in patients with a known allergy to any of its components. It is also unsuitable for individuals with calcium metabolism disorders, severe kidney impairment, or severe liver disease.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• There is insufficient data on the use of this medication during pregnancy. It should only be used if the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus.
• Systemically absorbed corticosteroids may pass into breast milk, potentially affecting infant growth, interfering with natural corticosteroid production, or causing other adverse effects. The extent of systemic absorption from topical application of Calcipotriol or corticosteroids is unknown. Due to the potential risk, caution is advised when administering this medication to breastfeeding mothers.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Hypercalcemia and hypercalciuria have been reported. If these conditions occur, discontinue use until calcium metabolism returns to normal.
• Topical corticosteroids can cause reversible suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, Cushing’s syndrome, and may reveal latent diabetes. The risk of adrenal suppression increases with prolonged treatment. Patients showing signs of HPA axis suppression should be monitored, and treatment should be adjusted accordingly.
• Systemic absorption is more likely with prolonged use, application over large areas, occlusive dressing, or use of high-potency corticosteroids.
• Possible local adverse reactions include skin thinning (atrophy), stretch marks (striae), irritation, acne-like eruptions, pigmentation changes, and allergic contact dermatitis, which are more common with occlusive dressings or stronger corticosteroids.
• Avoid application on the face, underarms, groin, or areas with skin atrophy.
• Children may be more susceptible to systemic effects when using topical corticosteroids.
