✔️ Overdose Effects & Management

In normal individuals, potassium overdose is uncommon. In cases of impaired excretion, hyperkalemia may develop rapidly and require urgent treatment.

Management includes:

• Stopping potassium-containing foods and medications
• IV infusion of dextrose (10–25%) with insulin
• Use of exchange resins, hemodialysis, or peritoneal dialysis

✔️ Directions for Use:

Urokit Plus should be taken diluted in water, with an optional additional glass of water afterward. Chilling the solution improves taste. Proper dilution helps reduce gastrointestinal irritation associated with concentrated potassium salts.

For UTI-related discomfort:

Adults & children > 6 years: 10 ml, three times daily, diluted in 1 glass of water

Children 1–6 years: 5 ml, three times dail,y diluted in half a glass of water

For prevention of kidney stones, gout (with uricosuric agents), and renal acidosis:

Adults: 10–15 ml, four times daily (or as directed), diluted in 1 glass of water

Pediatric: 5–10 ml, four times daily (or as directed), diluted in half a glass of water

✔️ Side Effect

When taken at recommended doses by patients with normal kidney function, Urokit Plus is usually well tolerated. However, caution is advised in individuals with impaired renal function to avoid hyperkalemia or alkalosis.

Symptoms of potassium intoxication include:

• Weakness, fatigue
• Mental confusion
• Tingling sensations

Other signs related to elevated serum potassium

✔️ Drug Interactions

Concomitant use with the following may lead to potassium toxicity:

• Potassium-containing medications
• Potassium-sparing diuretics
• ACE inhibitors
• Cardiac glycosides

✔️ Urokit Plus is contraindicated in:

• Severe renal impairment with oliguria or azotemia
• Untreated Addison’s disease
• Acute dehydration
• Severe myocardial damage
• Hyperkalemia from any cause

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Human and animal data are insufficient. The potential risk is unclear. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly necessary and under medical supervision.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Use cautiously in patients with low urinary output.
• Always dilute adequately to reduce GI irritation from concentrated potassium salts.
• Preferably take after meals to avoid saline laxative effects.
• Large doses may lead to hyperkalemia and alkalosis, especially in renal impairment.
• Avoid combining with potassium-rich medications or potassium-sparing therapies.
• Do not exceed the recommended dose. Discontinue if adverse reactions occur.
