Phoscon 210mg Tablet

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Ferric Citrate 210 mg

For hyperphosphatemia in CKD patients on dialysis:

• Starting dose: 2 tablets three times daily with meals.
• The dose may be adjusted by 1–2 tablets at a time according to serum phosphorus levels.
• Dose adjustments may be made at intervals of at least 1 week.
• Maximum dose: 12 tablets per day.

For iron deficiency anemia in CKD patients not receiving dialysis:

• Starting dose: 1 tablet three times daily with meals.
• The dose may be adjusted according to the patient's hemoglobin response and treatment goals.
• Maximum dose: 12 tablets per day, or as prescribed by the physician.

Children and adolescents:
The safety and effectiveness of ferric citrate have not been established in pediatric patients.

✔️ Side Effects

• Dark or discolored stools
• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Abdominal pain
• Cough
• Increased blood potassium levels (hyperkalemia)

✔️ Drug Interactions

Phoscon may reduce the absorption of certain oral medicines. Drugs such as doxycycline and ciprofloxacin should be taken separately from Phoscon. Follow the timing recommended by your doctor or pharmacist.

✔️ Contraindications

Phoscon should not be used in patients with iron overload disorders, including hemochromatosis.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

There is currently insufficient information regarding the safety of ferric citrate in pregnant or breastfeeding women. It should be used during pregnancy or lactation only when specifically recommended by a healthcare professional.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Phoscon can increase iron absorption and may cause excessive iron accumulation in the body.
• Serum ferritin and transferrin saturation (TSAT) should be monitored during treatment.
• Patients receiving intravenous iron may require a reduction in the amount of IV iron or discontinuation, depending on their iron levels.
• Keep all iron-containing medicines safely out of the reach of children. Accidental ingestion of iron products can cause serious or potentially fatal poisoning in young children.
• If accidental overdose occurs, seek immediate medical attention.

✔️ Storage:

Store below 30°C in a dry place and protect from light. Keep the medicine out of the reach and sight of children.
