• Take exactly as prescribed, on an empty stomach.
• Do not miss doses; skipping doses can lead to resistance.
• Continue therapy even if symptoms improve, unless advised by doctor.
• Do not share needles, razors, or toothbrushes; practice safe sex.
• Regular follow-up and blood tests are essential.

✔️ Dosage & Administration

Adult Dose:

Treatment-naïve, compensated liver disease: 0.5 mg once daily

Lamivudine-refractory or lamivudine/telbivudine resistance: 1 mg once daily

Decompensated liver disease: 1 mg once daily

Pediatric Dose:

≥2 years & ≥10 kg: dose adjusted by weight

<2 years: safety/efficacy not established

16 years: same as adult dosing

Renal Impairment (dose adjustment):

• CrCl ≥50 mL/min: No adjustment
• CrCl 30–49 mL/min: 0.25 mg/day or 0.5 mg every 48 hr
• CrCl 10–29 mL/min: 0.15 mg/day or 0.5 mg every 72 hr
• CrCl <10 mL/min, hemodialysis, CAPD: 0.05 mg/day or 0.5 mg every 7 days

Oral use, on an empty stomach (≥2 hours before or after a meal).

Swallow the tablet whole with water.

• Lactic acidosis and hepatomegaly with steatosis: rare but potentially fatal; monitor closely.
• Severe acute exacerbations of hepatitis may occur after discontinuation – do not stop abruptly without medical supervision.
• Renal impairment: dose adjustment required.
• HIV co-infection: should not be used alone as it may cause HIV resistance.
• Liver monitoring: regular ALT, AST, HBV DNA levels required during and after therapy.
• Alcohol: avoid due to increased risk of liver damage.
