Bacitracin acts by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis. It is effective against many Gram-positive organisms (Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Corynebacterium, Clostridium) and some Gram-negative bacteria (e.g., Neisseria, H. influenzae).
Neomycin, an aminoglycoside, disrupts bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit. It is active against various Gram-negative aerobes and some staphylococcal strains.
Together, they offer broad-spectrum topical antibacterial action, often used in combination for enhanced efficacy.
