Consuming alcohol while taking Metonid 0.5% IV Infusion may cause symptoms such as flushing, increased heart rate, nausea, thirst, chest pain, and low blood pressure (Disulfiram reaction).
Metonid 0.5% IV Infusion is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects on the developing baby, but limited human studies.
Metonid 0.5% IV Infusion should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Breastfeeding should be held until the mother's treatment is completed and the drug is eliminated from her body. If a single dose of Metonid IV is used, it is recommended to hold breastfeeding for 12-24 hours to allow the removal of the drug.
Metonid 0.5% IV Infusion may cause side effects that could affect your ability to drive. It may make you feel sleepy, dizzy, confused, cause hallucinations, fits (convulsions), or temporary eyesight problems (such as blurred or double vision), affecting your ability to drive.
Metonid 0.5% IV Infusion is safe to use in patients with kidney disease. No dose adjustment is recommended. Patients undergoing kidney dialysis should take this medicine after the dialysis treatment.

Indications of Metonid 500 mg/100 ml: Metonid 500 mg/100 ml is indicated in the treatment of the following diseases:
Metonid 500 mg/100 ml belongs to the imidazole class of antibacterial drugs and is classified therapeutically as an antiprotozoal agent. The 5-nitro group of Metonid 500 mg/100 ml is reduced by anaerobes metabolically. Studies have demonstrated that the reduced form of this drug interacts with DNA, giving bactericidal action.
Metonid 500 mg/100 ml intravenous infusion requires no dilution. For adults and children over 12 years: Infuse 500 mg 8 hourly at a rate of 5 ml/minute. A maximum of 4 g should not be exceeded during 24 hours.
Single oral doses of Metonid 500 mg/100 ml, up to 12 g, have been reported in suicide attempts and accidental overdoses. Symptoms were limited to vomiting, ataxia, and slight disorientation. There is no specific antidote, and symptomatic and supportive treatment should be instituted in case of suspected massive overdosages.
Metonid 500 mg/100 ml is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Metonid 500 mg/100 ml or other nitroimidazole derivatives.
Metonid 500 mg/100 ml is classified as FDA Pregnancy Category B. Caution is advised during pregnancy and lactation, and use should be considered only if clearly needed.
