✔️ Side Effects

The combination is generally well tolerated. Common side effects may include:

• Fatigue
• Headache
• Swelling of the feet or ankles (edema)
• Nausea
• Drowsiness
• Anxiety
• Depression

Less commonly, patients may experience:

• Dizziness
• Slow heart rate
• Low blood pressure
• Cold hands and feet
• Gastrointestinal discomfort

✔️ Dosage and Administration

Recommended Dose

• One tablet containing Amlodipine 5 mg + Atenolol 25 mg once daily.

If necessary, the dosage may be increased to:

• Two tablets of Amlodipine 5 mg + Atenolol 25 mg daily

Dosage should always be individualized according to the patient's condition and the physician's recommendation.

✔️ Drug Interactions

Disopyramide

• Atenolol may reduce the clearance of disopyramide by approximately 20%.
• Combined use may increase negative effects on heart contractility.

Ampicillin

• High doses (1 g or more) may reduce atenolol blood concentrations.

Oral Antidiabetic Drugs and Insulin

• Beta-blockers may reduce insulin sensitivity and inhibit insulin release.
• Atenolol has a lower tendency to produce these effects compared with some other beta-blockers, but caution is still advised.

✔️ Amloten should not be used in patients with:

• Hypersensitivity to amlodipine, atenolol, or any component of the formulation
• Sinus bradycardia (abnormally slow heart rate)
• Second-degree or higher heart block
• Cardiogenic shock
• Severe hypotension
• Congestive heart failure that is not adequately controlled
• Significant left ventricular dysfunction

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy

• Use during pregnancy only if the expected benefit outweighs potential risks to the fetus.
• Treatment should be undertaken only under medical supervision.

Breastfeeding

• The combination is generally not recommended during breastfeeding.
• If treatment is considered essential, breastfeeding should be discontinued.

✔️ Precautions and Warnings

• Use cautiously in patients with asthma, COPD, or other airway obstruction disorders, as atenolol may worsen breathing problems.
• The combination may be used in patients with kidney disease.
• Extra caution is required when creatinine clearance is below 30 mL/min because atenolol elimination may be reduced.
• Patients with severe liver disease may require careful monitoring because amlodipine elimination may be prolonged.
• Abrupt discontinuation should be avoided.
• Sudden withdrawal may worsen angina or increase the risk of cardiovascular complications.
• Dose reduction should be gradual and supervised by a healthcare professional.
