Ruvan Z 5/10 Tablet is a combination of Ezetimibe and Rosuvastatin, belonging to the group of medicines called antihyperlipidemic agents. It is used along with an appropriate diet, regular exercise, and lifestyle modifications to reduce elevated cholesterol and other blood lipid levels.
By lowering LDL cholesterol and other atherogenic lipids, Ruvan Z 5/10 helps reduce cardiovascular risk in appropriate patients. It should be used as prescribed by a physician.
Before taking Ruvan Z 5/10 Tablet, inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems, thyroid disorders, diabetes, high blood pressure, or a personal or family history of muscle disorders.
Ruvan Z 5/10 Tablet is not suitable for patients with active liver disease or certain severe kidney conditions, depending on the dose and clinical circumstances. It should also be avoided in patients with unexplained, recurrent muscle pain or weakness until appropriately evaluated.
Do not take Ruvan Z 5/10 Tablet during pregnancy. Women who can become pregnant should use appropriate contraception during treatment. Breastfeeding is also not recommended during treatment.
Avoid excessive alcohol consumption. Heavy alcohol intake may increase the risk of liver problems and may contribute to muscle-related adverse effects associated with statin therapy.
Ruvan Z 5/10 Tablet should not be used during pregnancy. Rosuvastatin may interfere with cholesterol-related processes that are important for fetal development. Women who can become pregnant should use appropriate contraception during treatment.
If you become pregnant while taking this medicine, stop taking it and contact your doctor promptly.
Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment with Ruvan Z 5/10 Tablet. Consult your doctor regarding appropriate treatment options.
Dizziness or other symptoms may occur in some patients. Do not drive or operate machinery if your ability to do so is affected.
Inform your doctor if you have kidney disease. Rosuvastatin exposure can increase in patients with severe renal impairment, and dose adjustment may be necessary. The appropriate dose depends on the severity of kidney impairment and the specific formulation.
Inform your doctor if you have liver disease or a history of liver problems. Ruvan Z 5/10 Tablet should not be used in patients with active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations in liver enzymes unless specifically advised by a physician.
Ruvan Z 5/10 Tablet contains two lipid-lowering medicines that work through complementary mechanisms.
Rosuvastatin inhibits HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme involved in cholesterol production in the liver. This increases the removal of LDL cholesterol from the blood and lowers LDL and other atherogenic lipid levels.
Ezetimibe reduces the absorption of dietary and biliary cholesterol from the small intestine by inhibiting the NPC1L1 cholesterol transporter.
Together, these medicines provide a greater reduction in LDL cholesterol than either medicine alone and help reduce cholesterol-related cardiovascular risk when used appropriately.
The dose and duration of treatment depend on your cholesterol level, cardiovascular risk, response to treatment, kidney function, and other medical conditions.
Eat fibre-rich foods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Drink adequate fluids and maintain regular physical activity. Consult your doctor if constipation persists.
Rest and avoid driving or operating machinery while you feel dizzy. Avoid excessive alcohol consumption, as it may worsen dizziness.
Rest, stay adequately hydrated, and avoid excessive alcohol consumption. Consult your doctor if the headache is severe or persistent.
Take the medicine as directed, with or without food. Choose simple meals and avoid foods that worsen your symptoms. Consult your doctor if nausea persists or becomes severe.
Inform your doctor about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you are taking. Important interactions may occur with:

Do not take Ruvan Z 5/10 Tablet if you are allergic to ezetimibe, rosuvastatin, or any of the other ingredients in the formulation.
The safety and effectiveness of the combination product depend on the patient's age and formulation. It should be used in children and adolescents only when prescribed by an appropriate healthcare professional.
Elderly patients may have a higher risk of statin-associated muscle problems, particularly when other risk factors are present. Your doctor may monitor you more closely during treatment.
