Pronex MUPS 40 Tablet

✔️ Uses

Pronex MUPS 40 is prescribed to reduce excess stomach acid and treat acid-related conditions in adults and adolescents (12–17 years). It is indicated for:

• Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
• Non-erosive reflux disease (NERD) with heartburn and acid regurgitation
• Maintenance treatment of NERD
• Erosive or reflux esophagitis and maintenance after healing
• Healing and prevention of NSAID-associated gastric ulcers
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
• Eradication of Helicobacter pylori infection (as part of combination therapy)

✔️ Dosage & Administration:

Adults (18 years and above)

GERD / NERD

• Non-erosive reflux disease: 20 mg once daily for 2–4 weeks
• Maintenance therapy: 20 mg once daily
• Erosive esophagitis: 20–40 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks
• Maintenance after healing: 20 mg once daily

NSAID-associated ulcers

• Healing: 20 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks
• Prevention: 20 mg once daily

Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

• 40 mg twice daily

H. pylori eradication

• 20 mg twice daily with amoxicillin and clarithromycin for 7 days
• Or 40 mg once daily (capsule) with combination therapy for 10 days

Adolescents (12–17 years)

• NERD: 20 mg once daily for 2–4 weeks
• Erosive esophagitis: 20–40 mg once daily for 4–8 weeks

Always use the dose prescribed by your physician.

✔️ An overdose may cause:

• Gastrointestinal discomfort
• Weakness

There is no specific antidote. Treatment is supportive and based on symptoms. Seek immediate medical attention if an overdose is suspected.

✔️ Possible Side Effects

Common side effects include:

• Headache
• Nausea or vomiting
• Abdominal pain
• Diarrhea
• Constipation
• Gas (flatulence)

Less common side effects may include:

• Dry mouth
• Dizziness
• Fatigue
• Skin rash
• Itching
• Joint or muscle pain
• Sleep disturbances

Rare but serious reactions include severe allergic reactions, liver problems, kidney inflammation, severe skin reactions, blood disorders, and low sodium levels.

✔️ Use with caution if you have:

• Severe liver disease
• Severe kidney impairment

Long-term use may increase the risk of:

• Hip, wrist, or spine fractures
• Low magnesium levels
• Vitamin B12 deficiency
• Certain intestinal infections

Contact your doctor if you experience persistent diarrhea, severe abdominal pain, or symptoms suggesting kidney problems.

✔️ Esomeprazole may interact with certain medicines, including:

• Diazepam (may increase its blood level)
• Digoxin
• Ketoconazole and iron supplements (reduced absorption)
• Warfarin
• Phenytoin
• Clarithromycin and amoxicillin (may increase esomeprazole levels)
• Drugs metabolized by CYP2C19

Inform your healthcare provider about all medicines, supplements, and herbal products you use.

✔️ Do not use Pronex MUPS if you have:

• Allergy to esomeprazole or any proton pump inhibitor
• Hypersensitivity to any ingredient in the formulation

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician after assessing the benefits and risks.

Breastfeeding: Since it is unknown whether esomeprazole passes into breast milk, breastfeeding is generally not recommended while taking this medicine unless advised by your doctor.
