Terbinox 250 Tablet

✔️ Terbinox 250 is indicated for the treatment of various fungal infections involving the skin and nails, including:

• Tinea pedis (athlete’s foot)
• Tinea cruris (jock itch)
• Tinea corporis (ringworm)
• Dermatophytosis
• Fungal nail infections (onychomycosis)

✔️ Side Effects

• Headache
• Rash
• Pruritus (itching)
• Nausea
• Diarrhea
• Dyspepsia
• Abdominal pain
• Taste disturbance
• Elevated liver enzymes
• Visual disturbances

Rare but Serious Side Effects

• Liver failure
• Stevens-Johnson syndrome
• Neutropenia

✔️ Dosage & Administration

Adults

Onychomycosis (fungal nail infection):

• 250 mg once daily
• Duration:
  • Fingernail infections: 6 weeks
  • Toenail infections: 12 weeks

Tinea pedis, tinea corporis & tinea cruris:

• 250 mg daily as a single dose or divided every 12 hours
• Duration:
  • Tinea cruris & tinea corporis: 2–4 weeks
  • Tinea pedis: 2–6 weeks

Children (>4 years) – Tinea capitis

• <25 kg: 125 mg daily for 6 weeks
• 25–35 kg: 187.5 mg daily for 6 weeks

35 kg: 250 mg daily for 6 weeks

Administration

• May be taken with or without food.
• Follow the physician’s instructions carefully.

Renal Dose

• Use is not recommended in patients with creatinine clearance (CrCl) below 50 mL/min.

✔️ Terbinox 250 should not be used in patients with:

• Hypersensitivity to terbinafine or any component of the formulation
• Active or chronic liver disease
• Breastfeeding mothers

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Use cautiously in patients with liver or kidney impairment.
• Liver function tests should be performed before initiating oral therapy.
• Avoid use in chronic or active hepatic disease.
• Caution is advised during pregnancy.
• The drug is excreted in breast milk; therefore, it should not be used while breastfeeding.

✔️ Interaction

• Rifampicin may decrease terbinafine concentration.
• Cimetidine may increase terbinafine levels.
• May increase concentrations of drugs metabolized by CYP450 2D6 enzymes.

✔️ Storage:

Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
