Uses of Sodipic
- Relief of constipation
- Bowel evacuation before certain diagnostic or investigational procedures, when prescribed
Adult Dose:
For constipation, adults may be prescribed 5–10 mg as a single dose, generally at bedtime. For bowel preparation before certain procedures, a 10 mg dose may be used in combination with magnesium citrate according to the healthcare professional's instructions.
Child Dose:
Children should receive sodium picosulfate only according to appropriate medical advice. Dosing may vary according to age and body weight. For children aged 1 month to under 4 years, a dose of 0.25 mg/kg (maximum 5 mg) may be used; children aged 4–10 years may receive 2.5–5 mg, while those over 10 years may receive 5–10 mg, generally administered at night when prescribed.

✅ Description:
Sodipic is a laxative used to relieve constipation and help empty the bowel. It works by stimulating intestinal movement, making it easier for stool to pass. It should be taken in the dose and for the duration recommended by your doctor, preferably at the same time each day, usually at bedtime. Do not use it for longer than recommended, as prolonged or frequent use may lead to dependence on laxatives.
Along with Sodipic, lifestyle measures can help improve bowel regularity. Eat plenty of fibre-rich foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and cereals, drink adequate fluids, and exercise regularly.
- Maintain a fibre-rich diet containing whole grains, cereals, bran, fruits and green leafy vegetables.
- Drink sufficient fluids and maintain regular physical activity to support normal bowel function.
- Do not use Sodipic for more than about one week unless your doctor specifically recommends longer treatment.
- Keep an appropriate interval between Sodipic and other oral medicines because laxatives may affect the absorption of some medicines. Follow your doctor's or pharmacist's advice regarding the timing.
- Bedtime administration may be preferred because the medicine generally takes several hours to produce its effect.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose.
