Relupros Tablet is prescribed for:
- Treatment of advanced prostate cancer in adult patients
- Long-term testosterone suppression as part of androgen deprivation therapy (ADT)
Relugolix is a non-peptide GnRH receptor antagonist that blocks GnRH receptors in the pituitary gland. This action reduces the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH), leading to a significant decrease in testosterone production. Lower testosterone levels help slow the growth of prostate cancer cells.
Relupros is not indicated for use in women. Safety during pregnancy and lactation has not been established.

Relupros Tablet contains Relugolix, an oral gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) receptor antagonist used for the treatment of advanced prostate cancer in adult men. It works by lowering testosterone levels, a hormone that can stimulate the growth of prostate cancer cells. By suppressing testosterone production, Relupros helps slow disease progression and manage symptoms associated with advanced prostate cancer.
Absorption
- Oral bioavailability is approximately 12%.
- Peak blood levels are generally reached within about 2.25 hours.
Distribution
- Approximately 68–71% protein-bound, mainly to albumin.
Metabolism
- Primarily metabolized by CYP3A enzymes and, to a lesser extent, CYP2C8.
Elimination
- Effective half-life: approximately 25 hours.
- Terminal half-life: approximately 61 hours.
- Eliminated mainly through feces, with a smaller amount excreted in urine.

Fertility Effects
Relugolix may reduce male fertility due to its testosterone-lowering effects.
Embryo-Fetal Toxicity
Although intended for use in men, exposure during pregnancy may cause fetal harm. Men with female partners of reproductive potential should use effective contraception during treatment.
