Description:

Flexifen 5mg Tablet is a medication classified as a muscle relaxant, used to alleviate and reduce muscle spasms that occur in various medical conditions. Muscle spasms are sudden, involuntary contractions of muscles that can cause pain and discomfort. They often occur when the nerve signals controlling muscle movements are disrupted or damaged.

The mechanism of action of Flexifen 5mg Tablet involves inhibiting reflexes at the spinal level, which helps relieve pain and improve muscle function. It primarily affects the spinal cord and brain, aiding in the maintenance of muscle strength and alleviation of muscle spasms and stiffness. Flexifen 5mg Tablet is commonly prescribed for conditions such as multiple sclerosis, cerebrovascular accidents (damage to the brain due to inadequate blood supply), cerebral palsy (a disorder affecting movement, posture, and muscle tone), spinal cord diseases, and other nervous system disorders.

It is recommended to take Flexifen 5mg Tablet with food. The duration of treatment with Flexifen 5mg Tablet should be as prescribed by your doctor, based on your specific medical condition. While taking this medication, you may experience common side effects such as sleepiness, drowsiness, nausea, headache, weakness, and dry mouth. Most of these side effects are generally mild and tend to resolve on their own over time. However, if these side effects persist, it's advisable to consult your doctor.

Abruptly discontinuing Flexifen 5mg Tablet can lead to unpleasant side effects, including increased muscle rigidity, elevated heart rate, mood changes, fever, mental disturbances, confusion, hallucinations, and seizures (fits). Therefore, it's important to consult your doctor before stopping the medication.

If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, it's essential to discuss your condition with your doctor before taking Flexifen 5mg Tablet. This medication is not suitable for children under 4 years of age or those weighing less than 33 kilograms. Inform your doctor about all your current medications and your overall health to avoid potential interactions or adverse effects. If you experience mood swings, depression, or have suicidal thoughts while taking Flexifen 5mg Tablet, seek immediate medical attention.
