Linagliptin acts as a DPP-4 (dipeptidyl peptidase-4) inhibitor, an enzyme responsible for breaking down incretin hormones such as GLP-1 and GIP. - Patients already on Metformin: Start with 2.5 mg Linagliptin + current Metformin dose twice daily.
