Side Effects of Montair 10

Common: Loose bowels, fever, gastrointestinal distress, cerebral pain, queasiness, heaving, skin responses, upper respiratory tract infection.

Uncommon: Akathisia, uneasiness, arthralgia, asthenia, anomalous behavior, sadness, tipsiness, laziness, dry mouth, discharge, peevishness, discomfort, muscle complaints, edema, seizure, anomalous sensation, rest disorders.

Rare: Angioedema, concentration disabled, confusion, eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis, erythema nodosum, mental trip, hepatic disarranges, memory misfortune, palpitations, aspiratory eosinophilia, self-destructive propensities, tremor.

How to use Montair 10

• Montair 10 tablets should be taken as directed by your doctor.
• Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water, do not cut, break or chew the medicine.
• It can be taken with or without food.
• It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results.
• You should not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.

Indications

Montair 10 is indicated for:

• Prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma
• Acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction (EIB)
• Relief of symptoms of Allergic Rhinitis (AR): Seasonal & Perennial Allergic Rhinitis.

Pharmacology

Montelukast is a selective and orally active leukotriene receptor antagonist that inhibits the cysteinyl leukotriene receptor (CysLT1). The cysteinyl leukotrienes (LTC4, LTD4, LTE4) are products of arachidonic acid metabolism and are released from various cells, including mast cells and eosinophils. Cysteinyl leukotrienes and leukotriene receptor occupation have been correlated with the pathophysiology of asthma & allergic rhinitis, including airway edema, smooth muscle contraction, and altered cellular activity associated with the inflammatory process, which contributes to the signs and symptoms of asthma.

Dosage of Montair 10

Adults & adolescents (15 years & older)-

• Asthma & Allergic Rhinitis: 10 mg/day
• Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction: 10 mg/day

Pediatric patients (6 to 14 years)-

• Asthma & Allergic Rhinitis: 5 mg/day
• Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction: 5 mg/day

Pediatric patients (6 months to 5 years)-

• Asthma & Allergic Rhinitis: 4 mg/day
• Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction: Not recommended

Patients with both asthma and allergic rhinitis should take only one dose daily in the evening. For prevention of Acute prevention of Exercise-Induced Bronchoconstriction, a single dose should be taken at least 2 hours before exercise.

Administration

Oral administration is the most common route of administration. Montair 10 can be taken with or without food, depending on the doctor's instructions.

Interaction

When taking multiple medications or combining them with certain foods or beverages, there is a risk of drug interactions.

Alcohol Interaction: Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Montair 10mg tablet as it may increase drowsiness.

Medicine Interactions: Montair 10mg Tablet may have negative interactions with Rifampicin, Phenobarbital, and Phenytoin.

Disease Interactions: Exercise caution when using Montair 10mg Tablet if you have mental disorders, phenylketonuria, Lapp lactase deficiency, or sensitivity to aspirin.

Food Interactions: There are no specific food interactions with Montair 10mg Tablet. It can be taken with or without food.

Contradiction

Patients who are hypersensitive to any component of Monas 10 should avoid using it.

Pregnancy & Lactation

In pregnant women, there are no sufficient and well-controlled trials. Montair 10 should only be used during pregnancy if it is absolutely necessary. Montelukast is a medication that is secreted in breast milk. When Montelukast is given to a nursing woman, vigilance should be observed.

Precautions & Warnings

• Allergy: Do not take Montair-10 Tablet if you are allergic to Montair-10 Tablet or any of its ingredients.
• Mental Disorder: Inform your doctor before starting Montair-10 Tablet if you have any mental disorder, as it can cause mood changes such as anxiety, aggressive behavior, irritability, and restlessness. It may also cause feelings of depression. If you experience any of these symptoms, inform your doctor.
• Allergens: Avoid contact with known allergens such as pollen, dust, etc., to reduce the risk of allergy symptoms.
• Alcohol and Antidepressants: Avoid concurrent use of Montair-10 Tablet with alcohol or other antidepressants to reduce the risk of mental alertness issues.
• Abrupt Discontinuation: Do not stop taking Montair-10 Tablet abruptly, even if you feel good, as it may lead to an acute asthma attack.
• Hydration: Stay hydrated, especially if you have a cough or cold, as drinking liquids at room temperature can alleviate cough, runny nose, and sneezing.
• Phenylketonuria: If you have phenylketonuria, be aware that chewable tablets of Montair-10 Tablet contain aspartame, which is not recommended in such conditions.

Keep the temperature below 30°C and away from light and moisture. Keep out of children's reach.
