✔️ Indications:
Mecobalamin is a coenzyme form of vitamin B12, differing from cyanocobalamin by the replacement of the cyano group with a methyl group. It serves as a cofactor for methionine synthase, facilitating the regeneration of methionine from homocysteine. Mecobalamin is essential for:

Tablet
- Dosage: 0.5 mg, three times daily after meals.
- Dosage adjustments should be made based on the patient’s age and symptom severity.

Common Side Effects
- Dermatologic: Rash (discontinue if symptoms occur).
- Gastrointestinal: Anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea.
- Neurologic (CNS): Headache.
Others

- Gastrointestinal absorption of vitamin B12 may be reduced by neomycin, aminosalicylic acid, histamine H2-antagonists, omeprazole, and colchicine.
- Serum vitamin B12 levels may decrease with the use of oral contraceptives. While these interactions are usually not clinically significant, they should be considered when interpreting blood assays.

- Hypersensitivity to mecobalamin or any other formulation components.
✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation
- No sufficient data exist on the use of mecobalamin during pregnancy and lactation. However, since vitamin B12 is distributed in breast milk, its use is generally considered compatible with breastfeeding by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
