How Afun 1% Cream works?

Afun 1% Cream acts by specifically inhibiting the biosynthesis of ergosterol and other sterols (enzymes) required for cell membrane production, therefore it inhibits the division and growth of fungi eventually leading to cell death, which further prevents fungal growth.

• Avoid harsh soaps, deodorants, and other goods of this nature.

Indication of Afun 1% Cream

Afun 1% Cream is primarily useful for fungal infections of the skin such as athlete's foot, jock itch, ringworm, and other fungal skin infections. This medication is also beneficial for the skin conditions known as pityriasis (flaking or scaling of the skin)

Pharmacology

The primary mode of action of clotrimazole is to destroy the osmotic barrier in the fungal cell membrane and inhibit the biosynthesis of ergosterol, a crucial component of fungal cell membranes. This inhibition prevents the fungal cell from building a functional cell membrane, which ultimately leads to a dose-dependent inhibition of fungal growth. While the reduction of ergosterol is recognized as the primary reason for clotrimazole's antifungal properties, the drug also has other pharmacological effects. These effects include the inhibition of sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase, consumption of intracellular calcium, and blockade of calcium-dependent potassium channels and voltage-dependent calcium channels. These additional effects of clotrimazole explain other effects of the drug that differ from its antifungal activity.

Dosage of Afun 1% Cream

• For topical/cutaneous skin and nail fungal infections in adults, the recommended dose is to apply the medication 2 to 3 times daily. The treatment duration for onychomycosis is 6 months, while for tinea pedis and dermatomycoses, it is 4 weeks.
• For children, the dose depends on the type of infection. For tinea corporis/tinea pedis, the medication should be applied to the affected area every 12 hours for 4 weeks. For tinea cruris in children over 2 years old, the medication should be applied to the affected area every 12 hours for 2 weeks. For candidiasis, gently massage enough clotrimazole into the affected and surrounding area every 12 hours, and if there is no improvement after 4 weeks, reconsider the diagnosis. For tinea versicolor, gently massage enough clotrimazole into the affected and surrounding area every 12 hours, and if there is no improvement after 4 weeks, reconsider the diagnosis.

Administration of Afun 1% Cream

• Always apply Afun 1% Cream as directed by your physician.
• It is for external use only.
• Clean and dry the affected surface before applying the medicine.
• Apply and rub gently a thin layer of this medicine on the affected area.
• Wash your hands before and after applying the medicine.
• Do not use Afun 1% Cream on your face, eyes, or large area. Do not use under bandages or for a long time without consulting your doctor.
• Your doctor will decide the duration and time interval for application depending on the type of infection.

Hypersensitivity to Clotrimazole

Pregnancy & Lactation

• It is recommended that Clotrimazole should be used in pregnancy only when considered necessary by the physician
• Afun 1% Cream can be used during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before applying it

• Do not use Afun 1% Cream 10gm if you are allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients.
