How to use Elorim Cream

Always apply Elorim Cream as directed by your physician. It is for external use only. Apply a thin layer to the affected area and avoid washing the treated area for at least four hours after application. It should remain on the face for five minutes after hair removal. Do not cover the applied area with a plaster or bandage, and avoid applying the cream around your eyes and eyelids.

Quick Suggestions:

• Elorim Cream should be applied twice a day over the affected area.
• Before each application, wash the affected area with soap and water and dry well.
• Maintain a gap of at least 8 hours between each application and avoid face washing for 4 hours after application.
• Avoid getting it in the eyes, mouth, or nose. Rinse with cold water if you accidentally get it in these areas.
• Consult your doctor if your skin condition has not improved after 4 months of treatment.
• Do not stop using Elorim Cream without talking to your doctor as it can resume hair growth.

Pharmacology

Eflornithine, the active ingredient in medications like Elorim Cream, works by inhibiting the anagen phase of hair production. This process involves eflornithine irreversibly binding to ornithine decarboxylase (ODC), an enzyme essential for cell growth and differentiation. By binding to ODC, eflornithine prevents the natural substrate ornithine from accessing the enzyme's active site. As a result, the cell's ability to grow and divide, particularly in hair follicles, is inhibited, leading to reduced hair growth over time. This mechanism is often referred to as suicide inhibition because the enzyme is irreversibly inactivated upon binding with eflornithine.

Dosage & Administration of Elorim Cream

Adult Dose:

• Apply to the affected area twice daily at least 8 hours apart.

Child Dose (Age > 12 years):

• Apply to the affected area twice daily at least 8 hours apart.

Interaction

Before taking Elorim Cream, inform your doctor if you are taking any prescription, non-prescription, or any other herbal medicines.

Contraindications

Eflornithine is contraindicated in patients with a history of sensitivity to any components of the preparation.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy Category C. It is not known whether or not Elorim 13.9% is excreted in human milk. Caution should be exercised when Eflornithine is administered to a nursing woman.
