Side Effects of Feelfree Gel

The most common side effects are vulvovaginal burning sensation, vulvovaginal pruritus, vulvovaginal mycotic infection, urinary tract infection, vulvovaginal discomfort, bacterial vaginosis, vaginal discharge, genital discomfort, dysuria, and vulvovaginal pain. 

Indication of Feelfree Gel

Feelfree Gel is a non-hormonal combination medication used as a method of birth control. It contains lactic acid, citric acid, and potassium bitartrate. It is a gel inserted into the vagina.

Pharmacology

In vitro studies have demonstrated that the contraceptive gel containing lactic acid, citric acid, and potassium bitartrate functions by lowering the pH of the vagina and reducing sperm motility. However, systemic exposures of these components following vaginal administration are not expected to raise safety concerns.

Furthermore, in vitro studies have indicated that commonly used vaginal preparations such as Miconazole, Metronidazole, Tioconazole, and products for maintaining normal vaginal pH do not significantly affect the pH or buffering capacity of the contraceptive gel. This suggests that the effectiveness of the gel in maintaining its contraceptive properties is not compromised by the concurrent use of these vaginal preparations.

Dosage & Administration of Feelfree Gel

Administer 5 g gel of Feelfree vaginally by the provided applicator immediately before (or up to one hour before) each episode of vaginal intercourse. May use during any part of the menstrual cycle or as directed by the physician. 

How to use Feelfree Gel

• Follow the instructions in the diagrams below. Screw the applicator onto the tube in place of the cap.
• Squeeze the tube gently at its lower end, to fill the applicator at the 5 g mark.
• Unless prescribed by the physician, the applicator must be filled up to 5 g.
• After the amount taking the gel, remove measured the applicator from the tube, which should be closed immediately with the cap.
• In the knees, a lying raised down and position spread apart, with, delicately insert the applicator into the vagina as deeply as possible.
• Push the piston to penetrate the gel completely, then pull out the applicator without touching the piston After each application, clean it carefully with warm water and soap.
• Do not use water that is hotter than 50°C or solvents.
• Then wipe the applicator and store it in its packet.
• Always wash your hands with mild soap and warm water afterward.
• Feel Free is not greasy and can easily be removed with water.

Use in Children & Adolescents:

The use of Feelfree before menarche is not indicated

Interaction

This gel may be used concomitantly with other products for vaginal infections including Miconazole, Metronidazole, and Tioconazole. 

Contraindications

Avoid the use of this gel with vaginal rings. 

Pregnancy & Lactation

There is no use for this gel in pregnancy. 

Precautions & Warnings

Cystitis and Pyelonephritis: 

• Avoid use in women with a history of recurrent UTI or urinary tract abnormalities.

Overdose Effects

In case of overdose, seek emergency medical attention. Therapeutic Class Miscellaneous topical agents 

Storage Conditions

Store below 30°C, away from light, and in a dry place. Keep out of the reach of children.
