Carica Papaya Leaf Extract
✔️ Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 250 mg, 1-2 capsules, 2-3 times daily for 5-12 days.
- Children (1-5 years): 1 teaspoonful (5 ml), three times daily for 5 days.
- Children (5-18 years): 2 teaspoonfuls (10 ml), three times daily for 5 days.
- Adults (18 years and above): 3 teaspoonfuls (15 ml), three times daily for 5 days or as directed by a physician.
✔️ Interaction
Caripa has been found to increase the bioavailability of amiodarone, necessitating dose adjustment when co-administered. In vitro studies show that Carica papaya extracts enhance the action of various antibiotics, such as penicillin G, ampicillin, amoxyclav, cephalothin, polymyxin B, rifampicin, amikacin, nalidixic acid, gentamycin, chloramphenicol, and ofloxacin, exhibiting synergistic properties against pathogenic organisms.

- Hypersensitivity.
- Pregnancy.
- Males with prostate dysfunction (e.g., BPH or prostate cancer) should avoid Carica papaya due to increased iron absorption, which may raise oxidative stress and the risk of prostate cancer.
✔️ Side Effects
No known health hazards or side effects are associated with the proper administration of therapeutic dosages.
✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation
Caripa is not recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation.
✔️ Precautions & Warnings
Use with caution in individuals with bleeding disorders or those taking blood-thinning medications like aspirin or warfarin. Co-administration with oral hypoglycemics may lead to hypoglycemia; therefore, regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is essential.
