How does Emolent Cream work?

Liquid paraffin is a soothing agent (a substance that soothes or softens the skin). It works by avoiding water loss from the outer coating of the skin. This reduces dryness and leaves the skin hydrated and soft. White soft paraffin gives a layer of oil on the surface of the skin and avoids water evaporation from the surface of the skin and helps to moisten the skin.

Quick Suggestions:

• Do not apply Liquid Paraffin + White Soft Paraffin to large areas of skin or near sensitive areas, such as private parts or on broken or injured skin.
• Remember to wash your hands after applying Liquid Paraffin + White Soft Paraffin, unless hands are the treated area.
• Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, and nose, and rinse thoroughly in case of accidental contact or seek medical help in case of swallowing.
• Do not smoke or go near naked flames, as Liquid Paraffin + White Soft Paraffin increases the risk of severe burns.
• Dry skin can worsen the itch; therefore, do not scratch as scratching will generally make it worse. If scratching is irresistible, rubbing the itchy area with an ice cube might help.

Indication

Eczema, dermatitis, or skin allergy usually cause dryness on the skin. It often cracks the skin which causes flaking and scaring on the skin if it’s scratched hard. Suffering from eczema, skin allergy, or dermatitis will bring this disturbing itch to your skin. Emolent Cream is a moisturizer and a protective cream for the above-mentioned skin-related problems. They are useful in dry and eczematous disorders, and to a lesser extent in psoriasis.

Pharmacology

Dosage & Administration of Emolent Cream

For the emollient containing liquid paraffin and white soft paraffin:

• Apply Emolent Cream as directed by your physician.
• It is for external use only.
• Apply to skin: Wet the skin and rub in a small quantity of the emollient. Then, rinse and pat dry.
• Adult Dose: Create a rich lather using very little water and massage the affected areas. Use as often as required. Additionally, you can add the emollient to bath water or apply it to wet skin. For a bath, add 1-3 capfuls to 8 inches of bath water and soak for 10-20 minutes.
• Child Dose: Create a rich lather using very little water and massage the affected areas. Use as often as required. For an infant bath, add ½-2 capfuls to a wash basin of water.
• Your doctor will determine the correct dose and duration of use based on your age, body weight, and the specific condition being treated.
