- Elimate Plus Lotion is a medication used for treating scabies, a skin condition caused by tiny insects that infest and irritate the skin. It has antipruritic and scabicide properties, meaning it relieves itching and kills the mites and their eggs. It is important to follow the instructions provided by your doctor or those that come with the medication to ensure proper use.
- Typically, the lotion is applied to the entire body except for the head, mouth, eyes, and face. The skin should be clean, dry, and cool before application. After 48 hours, a cleansing bath is required to remove any remaining traces of the medication. To prevent further spread of infection, it is recommended to change clothes, towels, and bed sheets after each application.
- Mild burning, stinging, or tingling sensations may occur after application, but these side effects are usually mild and do not affect everyone. Itching may persist for several weeks after treatment, but this is believed to be an allergic reaction to the dead mites and not an indication that the treatment has failed.
