✔️ Dosage & Administration | Micoral 2% Oral Gel

For Oral Infections:

• Adults: 15 mg/kg/day in divided doses (5–10 ml, 4 times daily). Continue treatment 1 week after symptoms disappear.
• Localized Mouth Lesions: Apply a small amount directly to the affected area with a clean finger, 4 times daily for 5–7 days.
• Children (6+ years): 5 ml four times daily.
• Children (2–6 years): 5 ml twice daily.
• Infants (<2 years): 2.5 ml twice daily.

For Skin Infections:

• Apply a thin layer to the affected area and 1 cm surrounding skin.
• Duration: 2–6 weeks for skin infections, 6 weeks–6 months for nail infections.
• Wash your hands after application.

⚠️ For external/oral use only. Avoid the eyes, nose, and mouth (except intended oral lesions).

✔️ Oral use (systemic absorption):

Diarrhea, nausea, headache, altered taste, abdominal pain, vomiting (rare, 1–10%)

✔️ Interaction

Miconazole may:

• Enhance the anticoagulant effect of warfarin (bleeding risk)
• Increase or prolong the effects of:
• Oral hypoglycemics (sulfonylureas)
• Phenytoin
• HIV protease inhibitors (saquinavir)
• Anticancer drugs (docetaxel, vinca alkaloids, busulfan)
• Calcium channel blockers (verapamil, dihydropyridines)
• Immunosuppressants (cyclosporine, tacrolimus, sirolimus)
• CNS depressants (midazolam, alprazolam, buspirone)
• Potentially fatal interactions: May cause serious arrhythmias with cisapride, astemizole, pimozide, terfenadine, quinidine, halofantrine, sertindole, etc.
• May increase risk of rhabdomyolysis with statins (e.g., simvastatin).

✔️ Contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to miconazole or gel components
• Patients with liver dysfunction

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Use caution in infants and young children (risk of throat obstruction).
• Safety in pregnancy and lactation is not fully established → use with caution.
• Complete the full course of treatment, even if symptoms improve.
• Inform the doctor if taking blood thinners, antifungals, antiretrovirals, or statins.
