For producing pupil dilation or cycloplegia, the ophthalmologist may prescribe 1–2 drops of the 1% solution, with a repeat dose after approximately 5 minutes. An additional drop may sometimes be required after 20–30 minutes, depending on the examination and desired effect.
Child Dose
The dose for children must be determined by an ophthalmologist according to the child's age, clinical condition, and purpose of treatment. Children may be more susceptible to systemic adverse effects, so careful supervision is necessary.
Important: These are general dosing references, not instructions for self-treatment. Follow the specific directions provided by your eye specialist.
Seek urgent medical attention if you develop severe eye pain, a sudden deterioration in vision, marked redness, severe headache, nausea with eye pain, or a serious allergic reaction.
Tropicamide may oppose the effects of certain eye medicines, including carbachol and pilocarpine, as well as some cholinesterase inhibitors. Inform your doctor about all eye drops, medicines, and supplements you are using.
Tropicam is intended for ophthalmic use only. Do not swallow it or use it in any other way.
If you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using Tropicam 1% Eye Drops. It should be used only when the expected benefit justifies the potential risk.
Store according to the instructions on the product packaging. Keep the bottle tightly closed and out of the reach of children. Do not use the drops if the solution appears contaminated or the product has expired.
