T-Mycin Ophthalmic Ointment 3g

T-Mycin contains Tobramycin, an aminoglycoside antibiotic used to treat external bacterial infections of the eye caused by susceptible bacteria. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, helping stop bacterial growth and eliminate the infection.

Tobramycin enters susceptible bacterial cells and binds to bacterial ribosomes, mainly the 30S subunit. This disrupts protein synthesis and causes errors in the production of essential bacterial proteins, ultimately helping kill the bacteria responsible for the infection.

T-Mycin Eye Ointment

Mild to moderate infections: Apply a small amount inside the affected eye's conjunctival sac 2–3 times daily, or as prescribed.

Severe infections: Apply a small amount 3–4 times daily until improvement occurs, then reduce the frequency as directed by the doctor.

Possible side effects of T-Mycin include:

• Eye redness or irritation
• Itching of the eyelids
• Eyelid swelling
• Local allergic reactions
• Localized eye toxicity or discomfort

• T-Mycin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Tobramycin or any other ingredient in the formulation.
• Use only for bacterial eye infections diagnosed or suspected by a healthcare professional.
• Discontinue use and consult a doctor if an allergic or sensitivity reaction occurs.
• Prolonged use may lead to the overgrowth of resistant bacteria or fungi.
• Avoid touching the dropper or ointment tube tip to the eye or other surfaces to prevent contamination.
• Use caution if taking other medicines associated with neuromuscular blockade or ear toxicity, particularly systemic aminoglycoside antibiotics. Tell your doctor about all medicines you are using, including other eye preparations.

• Pregnancy: Adequate, well-controlled studies in pregnant women are lacking. T-Mycin should be used during pregnancy only when the expected benefits outweigh the potential risks, following medical advice.
• Breastfeeding: It is not fully established whether ophthalmic Tobramycin passes into breast milk in clinically significant amounts. Consult a healthcare professional before using it while breastfeeding.

Store below 25°C in a cool, dry place, protected from light, according to the product label. Keep out of reach of children. Close the container tightly after each use. Discard 4 weeks after opening, if specified by the manufacturer.
