Optafenac 0.1% Drop | 5ml

Optafenac 0.1% Sterile Ophthalmic Suspension is indicated for the treatment of post-operative ocular pain and inflammation, including after cataract surgery. It is also used for the prevention of surgery-induced miosis and for reducing the risk of post-operative cystoid macular edema (CME).

Optafenac 0.3% Sterile Ophthalmic Suspension is indicated for the management of post-operative pain and inflammation associated with cataract surgery.

Nepafenac 0.1% Ophthalmic Suspension

• Post-operative pain & inflammation: Instill 1 drop three times daily, starting 1 day before cataract surgery, continued on the day of surgery and for up to 2 weeks post-operatively.
• Surgery-induced miosis: Instill 1 drop three times daily starting 1 day before surgery and on the day of surgery.
• Prevention of post-operative CME: Instill 1 drop three times daily beginning 1 day before surgery and continue through the surgery day and up to 6 weeks post-operatively.

Nepafenac 0.3% Ophthalmic Suspension

• Post-operative pain & inflammation: Instill 1 drop once daily starting 1 day before surgery, continued on the day of surgery and for 2 weeks after surgery.
• An additional drop should be given 30–120 minutes before surgery as required.

Contraindications

Nepafenac is contraindicated in patients with:

• Known hypersensitivity to Nepafenac or any component of the formulation
• Allergy to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs)

Side Effects

Possible adverse effects include:

• Foreign body sensation in the eye
• Eyelid margin crusting
• Ocular discomfort
• Redness of the eye (ocular hyperemia)
• Other mild irritation symptoms

Pregnancy:
There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Nepafenac should be used during pregnancy only if the expected benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.

Lactation:
It is unknown whether the drug is excreted in human breast milk. Caution should be exercised when administering to breastfeeding mothers.

• Use with caution in patients with bleeding tendencies or those receiving drugs that may prolong bleeding time.
• Follow proper dosing as prescribed by a physician.
• Avoid contamination of the dropper tip.
