Netarsudil, the active ingredient in Netario, is a Rho kinase (ROCK) inhibitor. It works at the cellular level within the trabecular meshwork to relax actin-myosin contractility. This relaxation enhances aqueous humor outflow through the trabecular pathway and lowers episcleral venous pressure (EVP), ultimately reducing intraocular pressure.
The recommended dose is one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening..
Pregnancy: Adequate human studies are lacking; however, systemic exposure from ophthalmic use is minimal. Use only if the potential benefit outweighs the risk.
Lactation: No human data are available regarding presence in breast milk or its effects on infants. Caution is advised.
Pediatric use: Safety and efficacy in patients under 18 years of age have not been established.
Geriatric use: No notable difference in safety or efficacy has been observed between elderly and younger adults.
Netario should not be used in patients who have known hypersensitivity to Netarsudil or any of the formulation’s components.
Store unopened bottles between 2°C and 8°C, away from light and moisture.
Once opened, the product can be stored at 2°C to 25°C for up to 6 weeks.
