Moxifix 400 contains moxifloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. The eye drop formulation is commonly prescribed for bacterial eye infections, while oral formulations are used for various systemic bacterial infections. It works by stopping the growth and multiplication of bacteria, helping clear the infection and relieve associated symptoms.

Moxifloxacin may also be prescribed for:

• Community-acquired pneumonia
• Acute bacterial sinusitis
• Acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis
• Skin and soft tissue infections
• Complicated intra-abdominal infections
• Typhoid fever

How It Works

Moxifloxacin inhibits bacterial enzymes known as DNA gyrase (topoisomerase II) and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for bacterial DNA replication, repair, and cell division. By blocking these enzymes, it prevents bacteria from multiplying and ultimately eliminates the infection.

Dosage and Administration

Eye Drops

• Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
• Wash your hands before application.
• Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching the eye or surrounding surfaces.
• Instill the prescribed number of drops into the lower eyelid.
• Gently close the eye after application and wipe away excess liquid.

Helpful Tips

• Apply gentle pressure to the inner corner of the eye for about one minute after instillation.
• Wait at least 5–10 minutes before using another eye medication.
• Do not wear contact lenses until the infection has completely resolved.
• Discard the bottle within 4 weeks of opening unless otherwise instructed.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is nearly time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not use a double dose.
