Moxibac XG is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis caused by the susceptible strains of the following organisms:
Aerobic Gram-positive microorganisms include Corynebacterium species, Micrococcus luteus, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus haemolyticus, Staphylococcus hominis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and the Streptococcus viridans group.
Acinetobacter iwoffii, Haemophilus influenzae, and Haemophilus parainfluenzae are examples of Gram-negative aerobic microorganisms.
Pharmacology
Moxifloxacin is a 4th generation synthetic broad-spectrum antibacterial drug that belongs to the fluoroquinolone class of antibiotics. It is effective against a wide variety of bacteria, including gram-positive, gram-negative, anaerobic, and atypical Mycoplasma pneumonia. Topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV are inhibited, which are required for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, and repair.
Administration & Dosage of Moxibac XG Eye Drops
Interaction
Moxifloxacin absorption is reduced when antacids, sucralfate, multivitamins, and multivalent cations are combined (e.g. iron or zinc). Moxifloxacin may increase the risk of convulsions and bleeding when combined with NSAIDs and warfarin. As a result, using Moxifloxacin alongside them should be avoided.
Contraindications
Moxibac XG ophthalmic solution is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin, to other quinolones, or to any of the components in this medication.

Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy category C according to the US Food and Drug Administration. During pregnancy and lactation, moxifloxacin is not recommended.
