Optimox XG 0.50% Eye Drop 5ml

Optimox XG is an ophthalmic antibiotic used to treat bacterial eye infections, including bacterial conjunctivitis, when caused by susceptible bacteria.

• Use Optimox XG exactly as prescribed by your ophthalmologist. The dose and duration depend on the type and severity of the infection.
• Wash your hands before application.
• Tilt your head back and gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a small pocket.
• Hold the dropper close to the eye without touching the eye, eyelid, fingers, or any other surface.
• Instill the prescribed number of drops into the affected eye.
• Close your eye gently and apply light pressure to the inner corner of the eye near the nose for about one minute.
• If using other eye drops, leave an interval of at least 5–15 minutes, following your doctor's instructions.
• Do not skip doses or stop treatment earlier than prescribed.

If you miss a dose, apply it when you remember unless it is nearly time for the next dose. Do not double the dose.

Possible side effects include:

• Eye discomfort or irritation
• Burning or stinging sensation
• Dry eyes
• Eye redness
• Eye pain or itching
• Increased tearing
• Blurred vision immediately after application

4. Vision may be temporarily blurred after application. Avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision is clear.
5. Prolonged use may encourage the growth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi. Seek medical advice if the infection worsens or does not improve.
6. Keep the bottle tightly closed after use.

Systemic interactions are generally less likely with ophthalmic administration than with oral or injectable moxifloxacin. However, inform your doctor about all medicines you use, particularly medicines associated with QT-interval prolongation. Follow professional advice when using multiple ophthalmic products.
