Pharmacology

• Domperidone is a dopamine agonist.
• Blocks dopamine receptors in the Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone (CTZ) in the stomach.
• Gastroprokinetic function inhibits dopamine receptors in the gastrointestinal tract, impacting motility.
• Poor penetration across the blood-brain barrier, avoiding psychotropic and neurologic adverse effects.

Dosage & Administration of Apuldon 15ml Paediatric Drops

• Take 15-30 minutes before meals and, if necessary, before retiring.
• Usual oral dose for adults: 10-20 mg (1-2 tablets or 10-20 ml suspension), every 6-8 hours daily. Max dose: 80 mg daily.
• Usual oral dose for children: 2-4 ml suspension/10 kg body weight or 0.4-0.8 ml pediatric drops/10 kg body weight, every 6-8 hours daily.
• Various doses for dyspeptic symptoms and acute/sub-acute conditions.

Interaction of Apuldon 15ml Paediatric Drops

• Bromocriptine's hypoprolactemic impact may be reduced.
• Antimuscarinics and opioid analgesics may counteract Domperidone's effect on GI function.
• Caution when used with MAO inhibitors.

Contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to the medicine or neonates.
• Gastrointestinal stimulation is a potentially harmful condition.
