Hydrocortisone 1% + Miconazole Nitrate 2% Cream is used for the topical treatment of inflamed dermatoses where both infections caused by susceptible organisms and inflammation coexist. Conditions include:
- Intertrigo and infected eczema.
- Moist or dry eczema or dermatitis, such as atopic eczema, primary irritant eczema, contact allergic eczema, or seborrheic eczema (including cases associated with acne).
- Intertriginous eczema, including inflammatory intertrigo, perianal dermatitis, and genital dermatitis.
The organisms susceptible to miconazole include dermatophytes, pathogenic yeasts (e.g., Candida spp.), and many Gram-positive bacteria, including strains of Streptococcus and Staphylococcus.

✔️ Indication of Unigal HC Cream
Miconazole, a substituted imidazole from the azole family, is effective in treating superficial candidiasis, dermatophytosis, pityriasis versicolor, seborrheic dermatitis, and skin infections caused by Aspergillus spp., Cryptococcus neoformans, and Pseudalescheria boydii. It is also active against certain Gram-positive bacteria, such as Staphylococci and Streptococci.
Hydrocortisone, a synthetic glucocorticoid, is used for skin injuries like inflammation. It also has antipruritic, antifungal, and vasoconstrictive effects.
- Miconazole interferes with ergosterol synthesis, altering the permeability of fungal cell membranes and ultimately killing the fungi.
- Hydrocortisone is absorbed into skin cells, where it blocks the release of inflammatory chemicals, reducing redness and swelling.
✔️ Directions for Use:
Apply a thin layer to the affected area 2 to 4 times daily for 1 to 2 weeks. Rub gently until the cream is fully absorbed into the skin. Continue treatment for at least one week after all signs and symptoms have disappeared. The same dosage applies to adults and children.
