Ropinirole is a non-ergoline dopamine agonist with its highest affinity at D3 receptors, located in the limbic system, which may account for some neuropsychiatric effects.
Ropinirole shows negligible activity at peripheral α2-adrenoceptors, 5HT-1 receptors, benzodiazepine receptors, or GABA receptors, and no affinity for D1-like receptors.
