Profen Oral Suspension 100ml

✔️ Profen may be prescribed for:

• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Osteoarthritis
• Musculoskeletal and joint disorders
• Fever
• Pain
• Dysmenorrhea
• Pericarditis
• Patent ductus arteriosus
• Inflammatory conditions

✔️ Words of Advice:

• Always take Profen with food to minimize stomach upset.
• Complete the prescribed treatment course.
• Long-term use may increase the risk of stomach bleeding, ulcers, kidney problems, and cardiovascular complications.
• Regular monitoring of kidney function, liver function, and blood parameters may be required during prolonged therapy.

✔️ Do not use Profen if you have:

• Active peptic ulcer disease
• Allergy to ibuprofen or related medications
• Certain neonatal conditions requiring avoidance of ibuprofen injections

✔️ Profen may interact with:

• Warfarin, aspirin, SSRIs, corticosteroids: Increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding.
• Diuretics: Reduced effectiveness.
• ACE inhibitors and ARBs: Reduced blood pressure-lowering effects.
• Lithium and methotrexate: Increased toxicity risk.
• Cyclosporine and tacrolimus: Higher risk of kidney damage.

✔️ Ibuprofen Suspension:

Children-

• 3-6 months (body weight over 5 kg): 1/2 tsp (2.5 ml) 3 times daily
• 6 months-1 year: 0.5 tsp (2.5 ml) 3-4 times daily
• 1-4 years: 1 tsp (5 ml) 3 times daily
• 4-7 years: 1.5 tsp (7.5 ml) 3 times daily
• 7-10 years: 2 tsp (10 ml) 3 times daily
• 10-12 years: 3 tsp (15 ml) 3 times daily
• Not recommended for children weighing less than 5 kg.
• In juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, up to 30-40 mg/kg of body weight daily in 3-4 divided doses may be taken.

• Dizziness
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Heartburn
• Epigastric pain
• Rash
• Constipation
• Tinnitus
• Fluid retention
• Headache
• Acute kidney injury
• Blood disorders (anemia, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia)
• Severe skin reactions including toxic epidermal necrolysis
• Photosensitivity reactions

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Classified as Pregnancy Category C during most of pregnancy.
• Classified as Category D during the third trimester or near delivery.
• Use after 30 weeks of pregnancy may cause premature closure of the fetal ductus arteriosus and should generally be avoided.

✔️ Use cautiously in patients with:

• Asthma
• Kidney or liver disease
• Bleeding disorders
• Cardiovascular disease
• Pregnancy or breastfeeding

✔️ Storage:

Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
