Overactive bladder, with symptoms of urge urinary incontinence, urgency, and urinary frequency

✔️ How does Uroben XR 50 work?

Mirabegron, the active ingredient in Uroben XR 50, is a beta-3 adrenergic receptor agonist. It stimulates receptors in the bladder wall, promoting muscle relaxation and increasing bladder capacity, thereby improving urinary control.

✔️ Dosage & Administration | Uroben XR 50

Adults: Start with 25 mg once daily; may increase to 50 mg once daily depending on response and tolerance.

Administration: Can be taken with or without food. Swallow whole — do not chew, crush, or divide.

Renal Impairment:

Severe (CrCl 15–29 mL/min): Do not exceed 25 mg/day.

ESRD: Use not recommended.

Hepatic Impairment:

Moderate (Child-Pugh B): Max 25 mg/day.

Severe (Child-Pugh C): Not recommended

✔️ Common Side Effects of Uroben XR 50

Very common (>10%): Increased blood pressure (especially in patients with existing hypertension)

Common (1–10%):

• Headache
• Nasopharyngitis (common cold symptoms)
• Urinary tract infections
• Constipation
• Dry mouth
• Dizziness
• Back pain
• Sinusitis

✔️ Serious but Rare Side Effects | Uroben XR 50

• Abnormal liver enzymes (AST, ALT, LDH)
• Palpitations, tachycardia
• Eye disorders (blurred vision, glaucoma)
• Skin reactions, including rash, urticaria, and rare cases of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome
• Bladder pain, nephrolithiasis
• Vaginal infections or vulvovaginal itching

✔️ Drug Interactions

CYP3A4/P-gp Inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, ritonavir, clarithromycin): May increase mirabegron exposure.

CYP3A4/P-gp Inducers (e.g., rifampin): May reduce drug levels.

P-gp substrates (e.g., digoxin): Monitor levels.

Caution with QT-prolonging medications like thioridazine, TCAs, and class 1C antiarrhythmics.

✔️ Precautions

Use with caution in:

• Severe renal or hepatic impairment
• Uncontrolled high blood pressure
• Patients taking other drugs that prolong the QT interval
• Patients with bladder outlet obstruction or on antimuscarinic drugs
• Not recommended for children under 18 years.
• Use with caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women; consult a physician.
