- Concurrent use of ACE inhibitors may lead to severe hyperkalemia.
- Interaction with alcohol, barbiturates, narcotics, corticosteroids, ACTH, lithium, and digoxin.

- Acute renal insufficiency.
- Severe impairment of renal function.
- Anuria.
- Hyperkalemia.
- Spironolactone sensitivity.

- Not recommended during pregnancy.
- Canrenone, an active metabolite, is found in breast milk during lactation.
