Dobesil LD Rectal Ointment 30g Tube

✔️ Each gram of Dobesil LD rectal ointment contains:

• Calcium Dobesilate BP 40 mg
• Lidocaine Hydrochloride USP 20 mg
• Dexamethasone Acetate BP 0.25 mg

✔️ Mode of Action

1. Calcium Dobesilate:
   • Improves capillary wall function, reduces inflammation, and exhibits antithrombotic activity.
2. Lidocaine Hydrochloride:
   • Provides local anesthetic action to relieve pain.
3. Dexamethasone Acetate:
   • Acts as a corticosteroid with anti-inflammatory and antipruritic properties.

✔️ Adult Dosage of Dobesil LD Rectal Ointment

• Apply 2–3 times daily as described above.
• For external hemorrhoids or anal pruritus, apply a thin layer several times a day as needed.
• Treatment duration is generally for a few days.

✔️ Composition of Dobesil LD Rectal Ointment

Calcium Dobesilate 4% + Lidocaine 2% + Dexamethasone Acetate 0.025%

✔️ Administration of Dobesil LD Rectal Ointment

• Frequency: Apply 2–3 times daily, preferably:
  • In the morning
  • At bedtime
  • After defecation, if possible.
• Method:
  • For internal use:
    • Attach the applicator to the tube.
    • Insert the applicator deeply into the anus.
    • Squeeze the tube gently while withdrawing the applicator.
  • For external use:
    • Apply a thin layer around the anus using your finger.

Renal Dose Adjustments

• In patients with renal insufficiency, avoid prolonged use.
• Long-term treatments are discouraged due to potential systemic effects.

✔️ Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any of the components.

✔️ Side Effects of Dobesil LD Rectal Ointment

Rarely reported side effects include:

• Temporary burning sensation or local pain.
• Hypersensitivity reactions, such as:
  • Skin rashes
  • Fever
  • Allergic responses (discontinue use if these occur).
• Minor intestinal transit changes.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid long-term use in these patients.
  • Calcium Dobesilate may be excreted in breast milk in low amounts.
  • Lidocaine Hydrochloride and Dexamethasone Acetate are excreted in breast milk; weigh the benefits of treatment against the risks of breastfeeding.
• Discontinue if no improvement is seen after 1–2 weeks or symptoms worsen.
• Avoid long-term treatment to prevent complications.
• Do not use for extended durations unless prescribed by a physician.
• Consult your doctor if symptoms persist or worsen after 1–2 weeks of treatment.
• Keep out of reach of children.
