✔️ How does Lunarzin 10 work?

Lunarzin 10 mg is prescribed for the prevention and management of several neurological and vascular conditions, including:

• Prevention of classic migraine (with aura) and common migraine (without aura)
• Symptomatic treatment of vestibular vertigo caused by functional vestibular disorders
• Peripheral vascular disease (PVD)
• Motion sickness
• Refractory epilepsy that does not respond adequately to conventional antiepileptic medications

✔️ Migraine Prevention

Initial Treatment

• Adults under 65 years: 10 mg once daily at bedtime
• Adults 65 years and older: 5 mg once daily

Treatment should be discontinued if depression, movement disorders, or other intolerable adverse effects develop. Patients who fail to show significant improvement after two months are generally considered non-responders, and therapy should be stopped.

Maintenance Therapy
For patients who respond well, the same daily dose may be continued for five consecutive days each week, followed by two medicine-free days. Even if treatment remains effective, it is generally recommended to discontinue therapy after six months and restart only if symptoms recur.

✔️ Adjunctive Therapy in Epilepsy

• Adults: 15–20 mg daily
• Children: 5–10 mg daily

✔️ Vertigo and Motion Sickness

• Adults: 10–20 mg daily
• Children weighing more than 40 kg: 5 mg daily

• 10 mg twice daily
• Dose may be increased up to 30 mg daily if clinically necessary

Oral Contraceptives

A small number of women using oral contraceptives have reported galactorrhea (unexpected milk secretion) during the first two months of Flunarizine therapy.

Enzyme-Inducing Antiepileptic Drugs

Medications such as:

• Carbamazepine
• Phenytoin

may increase the metabolism of Flunarizine, potentially reducing its effectiveness. Dose adjustments may be required under medical supervision.

• This medication is intended for migraine prevention and should not be used to treat an active migraine attack.
• Increasing the dose during a migraine episode is not recommended.
• Long-term treatment may lead to depressive symptoms, extrapyramidal reactions, or the emergence of Parkinsonian symptoms, particularly in elderly or susceptible individuals.
