✔️ Side Effects

• Diarrhea
• Headache
• Nausea
• Oral or vaginal candidiasis
• Dyspepsia
• Abdominal pain
• Hypertension
• Pruritus
• Tongue discoloration

✔️ Dosage & Administration

Adults & Adolescents (≥12 years)

• Nosocomial pneumonia / Community-acquired pneumonia / Complicated skin infections:
  600 mg orally or IV every 12 hours for 10–28 days depending on infection type
• Uncomplicated skin infections:
  Adults: 400 mg orally every 12 hours
  Adolescents: 600 mg orally every 12 hours

Pediatric Patients

• Usually 10 mg/kg every 8–12 hours depending on age and infection type

Administration

• Tablets may be taken with or without food

✔️ Linezolid is a reversible non-selective monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI) and may interact with:

• SSRIs and antidepressants
• Tricyclic antidepressants
• Triptans
• Buspirone
• Meperidine
• Sympathomimetic and vasopressor agents

These combinations may increase the risk of serotonin syndrome or hypertension.

Avoid excessive intake of tyramine-rich foods and beverages during treatment.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Use only if the expected benefit outweighs potential fetal risk.

Linezolid passes into breast milk. Monitor breastfed infants for diarrhea or vomiting.

✔️ Do not use in patients with:

• Hypersensitivity to linezolid
• Concurrent MAOI therapy or use within previous 2 weeks
• Uncontrolled hypertension
• Pheochromocytoma
• Thyrotoxicosis
• Carcinoid syndrome
• Concurrent use of serotonergic or adrenergic medications unless closely monitored

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Weekly complete blood count monitoring is recommended, especially during prolonged therapy
• Visual disturbances require prompt ophthalmologic evaluation
• Monitor for Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea
• Use caution in patients with hypertension or those receiving serotonergic drugs
• Monitor for metabolic acidosis, hypoglycemia, or recurrent nausea/vomiting

✔️ Storage:

Store at room temperature (15°C–30°C), protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
