Tedizolid, the active form of Tezo, inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit of Gram-positive bacteria. This mechanism is unique, making cross-resistance with non-oxazolidinone antibiotics unlikely.

Tezo, an oxazolidinone-class antibacterial, is indicated for treating acute bacterial skin and skin structure infections (ABSSSI) in adults caused by designated susceptible bacteria. Tezo should only be used to treat or prevent infections confirmed or strongly suspected to be caused by these bacteria to help reduce the development of drug-resistant organisms and maintain the efficacy of antibacterial medications.
Use only as prescribed by a registered physician.
No dose adjustment is required when switching between oral and intravenous administration. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as possible, provided it is at least 8 hours before the next dose. If less than 8 hours remain, the missed dose should be skipped, and the regular schedule resumed.
Use only as prescribed by a registered physician.
Oral administration of Tezo may increase plasma levels of drugs that are substrates of Breast Cancer Resistance Protein (BCRP). Monitor for adverse effects if coadministration cannot be avoided.
There are no known contraindications for Tezo.
Safety and efficacy in patients under 18 years of age have not been established.
Limited data are available for patients aged 65 and older. No significant differences in pharmacokinetics have been noted compared to younger adults.
In case of overdose, discontinue Tezo and provide general supportive care. Hemodialysis does not effectively remove tedizolid from systemic circulation.
Store tablets and injection vials at 20°C to 25°C. Keep out of reach of children.
