Nidazyl IV 500mg/100ml Infusion is indicated in the treatment of the following diseases:
Nidazyl IV 500mg/100ml Infusion belongs to the imidazole class of antibacterial drugs and is classified therapeutically as an antiprotozoal agent. The 5-nitro group of Nidazyl IV 500mg/100ml Infusion is reduced by anaerobes metabolically. Studies have demonstrated that the reduced form of this drug interacts with DNA, giving bactericidal action.
Nidazyl IV 500mg/100ml Infusion is a member of the imidazole class of antibacterial drugs and is classified therapeutically as an antiprotozoal agent. The 5-nitro group of Nidazyl IV 500mg/100ml Infusion is reduced by anaerobes metabolically, leading to bactericidal action.
Common side effects include metallic taste, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, and rashes.
Single oral doses of Nidazyl IV 500mg/100ml Infusion, up to 12 g, have been reported in suicide attempts and accidental overdoses. Symptoms were limited to vomiting, ataxia, and slight disorientation. There is no specific antidote, and symptomatic and supportive treatment should be instituted in case of suspected massive overdosages.
Amoebicides, Anti-diarrhoeal Antiprotozoal
Nidazyl IV 500mg/100ml Infusion is contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to Nidazyl IV 500mg/100ml Infusion or other nitroimidazole derivatives.
Nidazyl IV 500mg/100ml Infusion is classified as FDA Pregnancy Category B. Caution is advised during pregnancy and lactation, and use should be considered only if needed.
Store below 30°C, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use later than the date of expiry.
