Revocon 25 works by depleting the stores of certain chemical messengers in the brain that help control body movements.

Common side effects of Revocon 25 include nausea, insomnia, anxiety, fatigue, sleepiness, akathisia, and depression. Inform your doctor if you experience any unusual changes in mood or behavior, new or worsening depression, or suicidal thoughts while taking this medication.

• Take Tetrabenazine as instructed by the doctor. Do not break, chew, or crush the tablet.
• Swallow as a whole with plenty of water. Avoid taking more or less than the recommended dose.
• Take it at the same time every day for the ease of remembering.
• Be careful while standing up from a sitting or lying position to avoid feeling dizzy.

✔️ Indication of Revocon 25mg Tablet

Revocon 25 is used to treat Huntington's disease and relieve uncontrollable and jerky movements of the body. It should be taken with or without food, at the same time each day, as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking this medication suddenly without consulting your doctor.

✔️ Pharmacology

• Tetrabenazine works by depleting reserves of monoamine neurotransmitters like serotonin, norepinephrine, and dopamine in the basal ganglia. This helps control hyperkinetic movements associated with chorea.
• At dosages of 50 mg, Tetrabenazine may prolong the QTc interval.
• Tetrabenazine or its metabolites may bind to melanin-containing tissues in rats, such as the eyes and skin.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Revocon 25mg Tablet

Revocon 25 should be taken in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. It may be taken with or without food, but it is better to take it at a fixed time each day. Swallow the capsule whole and do not chew, crush, or break it.

✔️ Interaction

Revocon 25 should not be given with or within 14 days of discontinuation of MAOI therapy. It may block the action of reserpine and decrease the effects of levodopa. There is an increased risk of extrapyramidal side effects when given certain medications like amantadine, metoclopramide, and antipsychotics.

✔️ Contraindications

• Tetrabenazine is not recommended for patients who are actively suicidal or have untreated or inadequately treated depression.
• It should not be used in conjunction with MAOIs or within 14 days after stopping MAOI therapy.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Tetrabenazine is classified as Pregnancy Category C. It should only be taken during pregnancy if the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus.
• Tetrabenazine or its metabolites are not known to be excreted in human milk, but a decision should be made whether to stop breastfeeding or stop taking Tetrabenazine, considering the drug's importance to the mother.
