Magaldrate is a hydroxymagnesium aluminate complex that is rapidly transformed to Mg(OH)2 and Al(OH)3, which are poorly absorbed and give a long-lasting antacid action.
Tablet: 1-3 tablets, after meals and at bedtime or as directed by the physician.
Patients who have a known intolerance to magnesium or aluminum should avoid magaldrate. It's also not recommended for people who have kidney problems.
Constipation and diarrhea are possible side effects.
