Indications
Gastric reflux is the primary cause of heartburn, gastric reflux-related flatulence, pregnancy-related heartburn, and all occurrences of epigastric and retrosternal pain.
Pharmacology
The product's mode of action is physical and does not rely on systemic circulation absorption. After consumption, the product swiftly combines with stomach acid to produce a raft of alginic acid gel with a pH that is close to neutral and floats on the stomach contents, successfully preventing gastro-esophageal reflux for up to 4 hours. In extreme circumstances, the raft itself may reflux into the esophagus instead of the contents of the stomach and have a demulcent effect.
Dosage & Administration
for oral consumption of 10-20 ml after meals and at night for adults and kids over 12 years old. Elderly: There is no need to alter the dosage for this age group. Children aged 6 to 12: 5 to 10 ml after meals and before bed. Not advised for children under 6 years old.
Interaction
In particular, tetracyclines, digoxin, fluoroquinolone, iron salt, ketoconazole, neuroleptics, thyroid hormones, penicillamine, beta-blockers (atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol), glucocorticoids, chloroquine, and biphosphonates (diphosphonates) and estramustine should be administered two hours apart before taking this medication.
Contraindications
Patients with known or suspected hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or to any of the excipients should not use this medication.
Side Effects
Along with the drug's intended impact, some unwanted side effects, such as nausea, constipation, diarrhea, or headache, may also manifest. In these situations, seek medical advice. If an excessive quantity was consumed, a feeling of swelling can develop. It is best to visit a doctor in this situation.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Clinical studies in more than 500 pregnant women as well as a large amount of data from post-marketing experience indicate no malformities nor feta/neonatal toxicity of the active substances. This drug can be used during pregnancy, if clinically needed.
Precautions & Warnings
After seven days, if symptoms have not subsided, the clinical situation has to be reassessed. The salt concentration in each dose of 10 ml is 141 mg (6.2 mmol). When a salt-restricted diet is suggested, this should be considered. For instance, in some instances of renal insufficiency and congestive heart failure. Calcium carbonate weighs 160 mg (1.6 mmol) per 10 ml dosage. Treatment of patients with hypercalcemia, nephrocalcinosis, and recurring renal calculi containing calcium requires caution.
