Indications
An antitussive drug is Brofex. It is employed to treat dry coughs. Brofex can be taken with or without food, but the best results come from taking it simultaneously. It should be regarded as medical advice.
Pharmacology
By directly impacting the cough center of the brain medulla, Brofex 100 ml blocks the cough reflex. The medullary cough center exhibits a high affinity for dextromethorphan in a number of different brain regions. The chemical functions as a non-competitive channel blocker and is an antagonist of NMDA receptors. One of the most widely used antitussives is also employed in research on the connection between neurotoxicity and glutamate receptors.
Dosage & Administration
Interaction
Amiodarone, fluoxetine, quinidine, central nervous system inhibitors, and monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors are contraindicated when combined with dextromethorphan.
Contraindications
Allergic to dextromethorphan or any other ingredients.
Side Effects
Adverse reactions to dextromethorphan are rare, but nausea and dizziness sometimes occur. The drug is painless or addictive and has little or no central nervous system depression. Respiratory depression, confusion, and excitement may occur after an overdose.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnancy: There have not been adequate and well-controlled studies in humans. However, there are no reports that dextromethorphan causes birth defects.
Lactation period: I don't know if dextromethorphan will pass into breast milk. However, dextromethorphan is reported not to cause problems in nursing babies.
Precautions & Warnings
Do not use dextromethorphan to control coughing associated with smoking, asthma, or emphysema, or coughing (producing sputum or sputum).
Storage Conditions
Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool and dry put, secured from light.
