Indications
Ambolyt is used to treat a variety of respiratory tract conditions brought on by an abundance of mucus. It functions by making mucus in the lungs, windpipe, and nose thinner and looser so that it is easier to cough out.
Pharmacology
Bromhexine has a metabolite called ambroxol. It has pectolytic (liquefies secretions) and microkinetic (improves mucus transport) properties. Ambroxol increases the amount of mucus secreted by stimulating the serous cells of the bronchial glands that produce mucous membranes. The depolymerization and splitting of mucoprotein and mucopolysaccharide fibers that the mucolytic effect causes results in a decrease in mucus viscosity. Mucus expectoration is made easier, and breathing is significantly made easier. Alveolar cells are stimulated by ambroxol to produce phospholipids for surfactants. The anti-inflammatory properties of ambroxol. It enhances airway patency in COPD patients. In addition to these, Ambroxol demonstrates antioxidant activity. The preparation's good tolerability makes long-term use possible.
