Sulfacol 500 Tablet does not affect the ability to drive. However, if you feel drowsy after taking Sulfacol 500 Tablet, it is advised not to drive.
Sulfacol 500 is not recommended for use in patients suffering or having a history of kidney diseases. In other people, rarely it can cause inflammation of the kidneys.
Use Sulfasalazine with caution if you have a pre-existing liver problem. Your doctor may monitor your liver function closely and adjust the dose of this medicine if required based on your condition.
In rheumatoid arthritis, the contributions of sulfasalazine and its metabolites are unclear.
Dosage should be individualized based on patient response and tolerance. Administer food in divided doses to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Take Sulfacol 500 in the dose and duration as advised by your doctor. Swallow it as a whole. Do not chew, crush, or break it. Sulfacol 500 is to be taken with food.
Crohn’s Disease: 500 mg orally 2–4 times daily.
Rheumatoid Arthritis:
Ulcerative Colitis (Initial Therapy): 3–4 g daily in divided doses (intervals ≤ 8 hours).
Ulcerative Colitis (Maintenance Therapy): 2 g daily in divided doses.
