Do not use it for any longer than your doctor has prescribed.
Pharmacology
Povidone Iodine could be a combination of iodine and a natural polymer called povidone. Because of this polymerization, Povidone Iodine is more prevalent than natural iodine. It draws out the germicidal action of iodine by gradually liberating natural iodine. As a result, it is less hazardous than natural iodine. It is effective against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microbes, protozoa, infections, and fungi/yeasts. Furthermore, it is sporicidal. It is the only microbicide with such a broad spectrum of action. It is non-staining, has germicidal activity, and is also active in the presence of cleanser, blood, serum, discharge, mucosal discharges, and water.
