Informet 850 works by lowering glucose production in the liver, delaying the absorption of sugar (glucose) from the intestines, and increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.
Informet contains metformin, a biguanide that lowers blood glucose by decreasing liver glucose production, reducing intestinal glucose absorption, and increasing insulin sensitivity for better glucose uptake in peripheral tissues. Unlike sulfonylureas, it does not cause hypoglycemia.

Renal impairment:
Avoid if eGFR < 30 mL/min. Assess risks if eGFR is between 30-45 mL/min.
Hypoglycemia is rare but lactic acidosis may occur. In such cases, hospital treatment is needed with hemodialysis to remove lactate and metformin.
Take Informet 850mg Tablet preferably after meals or as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight, and disease condition. Do not stop taking Informet 850mg Tablet unless your doctor advises you to stop.
Metformin's absorption can be increased by Nifedipine. It can interact with cationic drugs like Amiloride and Digoxin, affecting kidney transport. Certain drugs like corticosteroids and oral contraceptives may reduce their blood sugar-lowering effect.
