Zultan 0.024% Ophthalmic Solution 3ml

✔️ Indications:

Zultan 0.024% ophthalmic solution is prescribed to lower intraocular pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.

✔️ Adverse Effects

Common Side Effects (1–10%):

• Hyperemia (6%)
• Eye irritation (4%)
• Eye pain (3%)
• Installation site pain (2%)

Other Reported Reactions:

• Permanent iris pigmentation changes.
• Eyelash growth variations.

✔️ Dosage for Adults

• Reduction of IOP in open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
• Instill one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening.

✔️ Dosage for Children

• Reduction of IOP in open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension.
• Not recommended Under 16 Years due to safety concerns, such as increased pigmentation from long-term use.
• 16 Years and Older: Instill one drop in the affected eye(s) once daily in the evening.

✔️ Pediatric Use:

• Not recommended for individuals under 16 years old due to safety concerns, such as potential pigmentation changes from prolonged use.

✔️ Geriatric Use:

No significant differences in safety or efficacy were observed between elderly and younger adult patients.

✔️ Warnings and Precautions

• May cause pigmentation changes in the iris and periorbital tissues (eyelids).
• Pigmentation increases with continued use but typically stabilizes after discontinuation.
• While iris pigmentation is likely permanent, changes in the eyelids and eyelashes are usually reversible.
• Regular monitoring is advised for patients showing significant pigmentation changes.
• This may result in increased length, thickness, and number of eyelashes.
• These changes are reversible once the treatment is discontinued.
• Exercise caution in patients with a history of inflammation (iritis/uveitis).
• Avoid use in cases of active intraocular inflammation, as it may worsen the condition.
• Risk of macular edema, including cystoid macular edema, has been reported.
• Use cautiously in patients who are aphakic, pseudophakic with a torn posterior lens capsule, or at risk of macular edema.
• The risk of bacterial keratitis exists due to contamination of multidose containers.
• Higher risk is observed in patients with corneal diseases or disrupted ocular surfaces.
• Contact lenses must be removed before instilling the solution due to the presence of benzalkonium chloride.
• Lenses can be reinserted 15 minutes after application.

✔️ Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to latanoprostene bunod or any of its ingredients.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy:

• No human studies are available.
• Animal studies suggest risks such as fetal harm, miscarriage, and structural abnormalities when administered in high doses.
• Should only be used during pregnancy if clearly needed and after weighing potential risks and benefits.

Lactation:

• No data on excretion in human milk or its effects on the nursing infant.
• The benefits of breastfeeding should be balanced against the mother's need for treatment.

✔️ Storage Guidelines

• Unopened Bottles: Store refrigerated between 2°C and 8°C.
• Opened Bottles: Store between 2°C and 25°C for up to 8 weeks.
